A record final stage at Finale Ligure crowns Andrea Bruno winner and champion of SuperEnduro 2010

October 25, 2010

Gruppo rider e staff Superenduro

SuperEnduro 2010 this season ended with a smash hit race, outstripping all expectations under any point of view. The last race has been the final of a competitive challenge commanding respect and worth of consideration, up to stand out as one among the most interesting disciplines in the gravity field. Moreover and especially it has been a great festival, an exciting game involving all the spectators and the contenders. Anyone didn’t want to miss this last extraordinary appointment, full of joy, fun, sport, competition, effort, wanderful landscapes, unique itineraries and great champions!

The extraordinary partecipation to the FinalEnduro race broke a record, being 350 competitors, a number never before reached, and maximum limit prescribed by the game regulation, a restriction that compelled the race administration to stop the registrations already since Saturday afternoon. A true triumph of bikes. All were attending and joined in. Either our by now most afficionados Italian experts, who have been contributing to the success of this circuit, or the great deal of bikers coming from all European countries, United States, New Zeland, and Australia. Among the contenders stood out several prominent names on the international stage, as Fabien Barel, three times world champion of downhill, Karim Amour, Florian Golay and many more. The only great absent was unfortunately the famous olimpic cross country champion Julien Absalon, who with deep regret had to give up the race for personal reasons, althought he had spent all Friday practising the racing tracks.
A record was also the presence of the Italian and international press, with many qualified photographers and journalists rushing from France, Germany, United Kindom to gather information and to document this event, ending a truly epic season!

Even the affluence of public was exceptional, with Vittorio Emanuele II’s Square overcrowded of people, intrigued by the colorful expo area and by the pump track sponsored by 4guimp, turned out an irresistible game for children, and not only for the kids, who anyway litteraly made an assault on it during all weekend.
A further motivation of interest for the spectators has been certainly also the presence at the Stand Dirty of the very famous French biker Cedric Gracia, one of the founding fathers of freeride, arrived to Finale in order to show the new signature series saddle Dirty Zero CG in preview.

The good luck too has played a great deal in this successfull memorable end of season, as the meteo that was very mild. In spite of the past days unfavourable forcasting, indeed not even a drop of rain came down. On the contrary some shy sun ray broke throught the clouds during the racing day, allowing all partecipants to fully enjoy the beautiful trails of the Finale’s region, cradle of the Italian mountain biking.
The winner of the race was the great Enduro specialist Karim Amour (SE3) with maximum time 23’07, in front of Davide Sottocornola (SE3), team Argentina Bike, and of Andrea Bruno (SE3), team Ready2Ride. Davide and Andrea have struggled up to the last meter for the second and third place in the overall ranking table. In forth position arrived the Swiss Florian Golay, followed by Alex Stock, first in the SE2 category. Sixth in absolute in the SE4 category was Stefano Migliorini, team Kona, while Alex Lupato (SE2) won the seventh position. To point out is definitively the debut in the Enduro of Danny Lupato, who immediately established himself as winner of the SE1 category. In first position of SE5 instead we find Giovanni Barbolini, team Surfing Shop, while among women the winner was Elisa Canepa, in front of Louise Paulin, at only four seconds distance, with which was competing for the title of Female champion Superenduro 2010.
Judging from these results and from the important participation of foreign bikers, we can assess that our Italian specialists turned out to be more and more competitive in this discipline and to be challenging rivals at an agonistic level also on an international scale.
Many participants also for the Promo Sport categories, in which the fastest was Giuseppe Cicala and Giovani category, won by Fabrizio Carotenuto.
A special honor commendation should be given to the very brave Luca Bondi e Corrado Grassi, riviera outdoor team, who run the race actually in tandem.

Beyond the agonistic results one could feel indeed the satisfaction of all, in spite of the fact the race was hard and challenging. Four trials of 35km overall, with a track unquestionably fit to a circuit’s grand finale.
This time the selection of the finalists resulted from the resistence of the athletes, confronting long displacements and so many streches to pedal in the special proofs. But joy and happines expressed in the eyes and in the smiles of all the competers probably was not because they had succeded in completing the race or attained a good position, but rather because they felt to partecipate to a major agonistic event that confirm Superenduro, once again, the most important gravity circuit in Italy.
Nobody intended to miss this final stage especially in a so beautiful setting as Finale Ligure, a wonderful place that truly leaves an indelible memory of this fantastic season of Superenduro 2010.
Therefore we must warmly thank the Comune of Finale Ligure, as well as the mayor Flaminio Richeri, the local organizer Riccardo Negro for all the work done, mapping out the trails in a way that helped us to appreciate the best qualities of the local territory and the charming landscape of Finale Ligure. In particular we enjoyed the really kind ospitality of the Finale Ligure Bike Hotels, the CIV of Finalmarina, the Bagni Garibaldi and the restaurant La Piazza, generously offering a rich pasta party to all the athletes.

The Superenduto circuit Volkswagen 4 Motion is going to finish, and we only wait for the last appointment of the big prize-giving to the winner of the 3 circuits Nord-Est, Nord-Ovest and PRO, that we are about to announce.
At this point we give you the appointment to the next year, for an event that the Superenduro staff is already organizing, being all at work to offer you a new unforgettable season, clearly rich of unbelievable and original surprises. One among many is just this week end at Finale. It concerns a really historic moment for Superenduro and for the future of the international enduro. It is about the changeover of the enduro of the Nations, that next year from France, birthplace of this sport, will move to Italy, at Sauze d’Oulx, assuming also the Italian format, further confirmation of the success that Superenduro have been earning in only three years since the first starting step.
