ABOUT ROUTES

DESCRIPTION PROLOGUE SATURDAY

The prologue starts from insides a converted church. Riders will emerge through a cloud of smoke into a steep flight of steps and race down towards the centre of town. Through Piazza Scarpa, then Piazza Garilbaldi and off the jump. before heading back into another steep stairset. Arriving at the bar Rive Grande you are plunged back into yet more stairs and a series of short climbs take you the finish in Piazza del Ferro!

DESCRIPTION OF THE SPECIAL STAGES SUNDAY

PS1 – Pineta

The redbull time rush is here! This stage will test your endurance, starting at 1,100m and then descending almost 900 vertical metres to the finish. The first part is flat-out, before you reach a tough, technical section down the ford. After the river you follow the trail used in the Sprint race last year down through the pine forests.

PS2-Mount Hercules

The hardest part of this stage is the climb to it! This is a very fast stage and riders will need to push hard on the pedals to earn every second. The fast series of corners mean you need to stay off the brakes to carry good speed and then it begins to undulate, with a short ups to take you to the finish.

PS3 – Cabin of Liano

At the start you will need to give everything to conquer the series of short, steep climbs, there aren’t many, but they are tough. Then it becomes more like a downhill track, crossing the dry riverbed and back down the mountain. The trail then flattens out, but it’s possible to hold good speed through the curves without needing to give everything. Finally the track steepens and it’s full gas down to the finish.

PS4 – Downtown

As you leave the brow you are immediately thrust into technical passages before you re-enter the town. Down the step to piazzetta Fantoni, under the arch and careful on the treacherous marble surface… A small jump followed a couple of curves and you’re plunging down the final stairset to the finish…

Details for how to register are available on the Superenduro website: www.superenduromtb.com/registration Riders must follow these guidelines or they will not be able to register for the race. Entry fee €40.00 until 20.00 on April 12, after that it is €45 until registration closes at 09:00 on the day of the event.
Riders without a current race license can register, but they will need to buy an FCI day card at a cost of €5 (these are available at the race office on the day of the race). They must also have a valid cycle racing medical certificate issued by an Italian doctor, in order to register for the race.

Showers, bike wash, pasta party, uplift truck on Saturday, party DJ set on Saturday and Sunday, ambulances and medical personnel, specialist bike shop in the area, workshop, wi-fi access for competitors in the paddock area and at the prologue.

HOW TO GET THERE
Gemona is accessible from the A23 Alpe Adria Palmanova-Tarvisio, from the exit at Gemona-Osoppo. It is also well connected by the railway network, with daily connections to Trieste, Venice, Austria and Slovenia.
