THE LAND BETWEEN NATURE, CULTURE AND MTB

Punta Ala

Punta Ala, in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, is a popular seaside resort in the province of Grosseto. The town developed on the northern slope of the Punta Ala headland surrounded by a rocky coastline, full of beautiful bays and coves with crystal-clear water.
In the sixteenth century the area of Punta Ala became a place of strategic importance for defense against raids by pirates both in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and in the Principality of Piombino. For this reason there were built several towers and fortifications partially restored but that still characterize the landscape.
The interior looks hilly, dominated by the typical Mediterranean vegetation and offers tourists and visitors the opportunity to visit the ruins of ancient settlements of the Etruscans and the Roman, medieval villages and the many nature reserves and protected areas.
Punta Ala is now a popular tourist destination and an oasis of peace. The fascinating area is rich in wines that accompany traditional products such as cheese and nicely bagged. The recipes are in line with the Tuscan tradition of simple and genuine food; also the products are still farmed by small businesses, a symbol of tradition still alive in this land.
In addition to the famous tourist harbour and the Yacht Club, which saw the birth of the prestigious Luna Rossa, the territory and the town lends itself to many leisure activities such as windsurfing, sailing and diving, horse riding and mountain bike along gentle paths that develop through beautiful cork and pine forests to reach the sea.
