The start and finish areas are located right at the entrance of the town of Calestano.
To reach the start of Special Stage 1, the racers will ride on Viale Italia and then along the Baganza river on Provinciale 15, for a short distance before they turn left into the climb to Vigolone, where the Stage start will be located.
PS 1 Gelo
After a short traverse, the riders will be straight into the stage’s crux: a very long single track along the ridge, in and out of the woods. About halfway, the Stage completely changes tone: it is now a steep, non-stop sequence of corners and switchbacks, with a faster and more linear final section.
The transfer to the start of PS2, straight after the end of Special Stage 1, is the longest of the day. The riders will cross Calestano again, before heading to San Remigio and Lesignano Palmia, and then onto the municipal ‘Lesignano Marzano’ road.
Ps 2 La Cava
A long ridge-line single track with some short pedalled sections will take the riders onto the quarry face, that for safety reasons will be traversed by a couple of switchbacks. Fast, flow sections with minimal line choice, all in the woods, will follow.
At the end of PS2, riders will ride back to Calestano for the Time Control.
After the Time Control, riders will go up again on the same transfer of PS1, this time to reach the start of Special Stage 3
Ps 3 Jack
This is the shortest track of the day, but it is the steepest and the most technical: plenty of corners, switchbacks and changes of direction, especially after the top third, when the trail starts to drop for good. The top section is instead quite fast and with some good flow.
The transfer to the start of Special Stage 4 will again go across the town of Calestano, but this time the riders will head out to a different side of the hill in the direction of Canesano, to reach the start of the last Stage of of the day.
Ps 4 – La DH
The final stage has some serious technical factors on offer, especially due to its overall distance. It is the longest stage of the day and the track with the biggest vertical drop. With a different vibe: the top section for once is twisty and it is the final section that will be faster, with some flow. The Special Stage finish will be located within the medieval centre of Calestano.
