COURSE INFO & DESCRIPTION

– DAY 1 – SPECIAL STAGES (PS) – SATURDAY APRIL 5

TAV 1 sabatoPS 1 known as “U TURIUN”: from the start line the riders will do approximately 9 km of transfer to warm up. In the place known as Colle del Lago this new, unknown and spectacular PS will finally take off. The first part of the course goes smoothly up and down on a fast and compact terrain. Ahead, it turns right and becomes a very technical, steep, rocky trail. The course then reaches a very fast forest road, where riders better have some air in their lungs and strength in their legs otherwise a short section uphill will suck…and the clock will not wait for them!

That’s not done yet: the course turns right and a spectacular, tough, technical trail commences, like a mini Bike Park on the sea, where only the riders with extra energy will grab some seconds! This course represents the real essence of enduro: with 2.9 km in length and 273 m of elevation gain, this is a “true” PS. It shows the whole variety of conditions that the discipline is expected to challenge the riders with.

TAV 2 sabatoPS 2 known as “PENISOLA” (ex Prologo): the course has been used in past editions as Prologo and everyone already loves it! The first part is on the cobble streets of Penisola, while the last section brings the riders down to the classic passage on the beach of Baia di Portobello. The PS ends in P.zzetta Matteotti, where the riders will find the Service Park (Parco Assistenza), to work on their bikes before dropping them within the Closed Park (Parco Chiuso).

– DAY 2 – SPECIAL STAGES (PS) – SUNDAY APRIL 6

TAV 3 domenicaPS 3 known as “CA GIANCA”: Taking off in Loc.tà Selva, with a length of 1.73 km and elevation gain of 290 m, this PS starts and finishes with two very technical sections, while in its central part it is very fast due to a hard-packed terrain, quite unusual in the area, but very cool for quick riders. Mind the last section of stone pitched trail, it is going to be ‘interesting’ if it starts to rain…

PS 4 known as “MIMOSA”: Starting again in Loc.tà Selva, 3.7 km long and with 471 m of elevation gain, this PS is already a real classic, well known and enjoyed by the riders. The first section, known as “Toboga”, is very fast, but even if the terrain is hard-packed, it always finds a way to bug the riders with special surprises. The central bit, running on a restored old village path, is fast and flowing, while the last segment has plenty of switch-backs on dirt and gravel: the riders will need to be focused but at that point they will be scraping out the last drops of mental energy…dreaming with being at the end soon! The first loop ends with the return back to C.O, in Viale della Rimembranza at Sestri Levante.

PS 5 known as “Sant’Anna“: the BEST!!!! Being 4.41 km long and with 497 m of elevation gain, the course starts with a bunch of switch-backs in the Ligurian woods and drops down toward the sea with a spectacular descent. This last PS is a legend for many reasons. First of all, for the breathtaking view of the Tigullio bay. Which will be barely admired by the busy riders during the race! But the riders will instead enjoy the track, somewhere very fast, elsewhere hard-packed and through rock gardens, very technical and very demanding. The classic PS to face with strong legs and quite a lot of good sense!

The second and last loop ends as well in Viale della Rimembranza at Sestri Levante – Balin area.

PROMO AND ESORDIENTI CATEGORIES: COURSE DESCRIPTION
The racers of the Promo and Esordienti categories will do the first loop on Sunday 6 April with the PS 3 “CA GIANCA” and PS 4 “MIMOSA”.
